Thomas Jefferson Quote

The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.

Questioning the obvious
How can President Obama be President for all Americans when he is willing to sacrifice the top 5% of all earners on the altar of redistribution of wealth? It just doesn't add up. I have always wondered how people can be against slavery because it violates someone's inalienable rights to life, liberty, happiness, and property can so easily think it is ok to violate the inalienable right's of another minority (those who make more money). If slavery was wrong based on the argument that "the majority has no right to oppress a minority's rights" then the same argument must hold true for progressive taxation. No matter how many people believe that it is ok to "soak the rich and give to others", it doesn't make it right because it violates someone's inalienable rights. This nation is supposed to be a nation where all are treated equally under the law. Progressive taxation, special financial benefits for minority groups and woman, and many other laws make us unequal which is immoral. The law should be blind. It isn't. What Obama is proposing to do is immoral. He, of all people, being the first black President should understand the evils of being willing to sacrifice a minority group on the altar of the majority interests. No matter how you slice and dice it, it is wrong.
