Thomas Jefferson Quote

I place economy among the first and most important of republican virtues, and public debt as the greatest of the dangers to be feared…To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude…The same prudence, which, in private life, would forbid our paying our money for unexplained projects, forbids it in the disposition of the public moneys…We [must endeavor] to reduce the government to the practice of a rigorous economy, to avoid burdening the people, and arming the magistrate with a patronage of money, which might be used to corrupt and undermine the principles of our government…The multiplication of public offices, increase of expense beyond income, growth and entailment of a public debt, are indications soliciting the employment of a pruning knife…It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes.

Demanding mutually exclusive things
For the past several weeks, tens of thousands of students in Chile have been demonstrating on the streets for a FREE QUALITY education. This demands shows both the folly of youth and progressive, liberal, socialist ideals and demands of our time.

What things are usually free? Cheap, useless, invaluable things. What things are usually quality? Things that cost more. Things that take more time to make. Things that use more expensive materials. Quality takes time and money to make. It takes experience to fabricate something of quality. In other words, something of quality is never free. And something free is never of quality.

So the students in Chile are demanding things that can never be. They are doing what socialist dreamers have done since the dawn of socialism, demanding equality for all with no price. They are living in a dream world that does not exist. They are asking for lead to be turned into gold. The government of Chile should ignore these crazy demands and point out the folly of youth.
