Thomas Jefferson Quote

I do not charge the Judges with willful and ill-intentioned error; but honest error must be arrested, where its toleration leads to public ruin. As, for the safety of society, we commit honest maniacs to Bedlam, so judges should be withdrawn from their bench, whose erroneous biases are leading us to dissolution. It may, indeed, injure them in fame or in fortune; but it saves the Republic, which is the first and supreme law.

Appeal for Freedom
Dear Representatives, Senators, and Legislators,

Woodrow Wilson said on May 9, 1912, "When we resist...concentration of power, we are resisting the powers of death, because concentration of power is what always precedes the destruction of human liberties."

My question to you, as one of my representatives is "Is power being concentrated more and more at the federal power? If so, why are you allowing this to happen?" I suspect that most of you are decent people and that you are pawns in a plan to enslave this nation in the web of a large federal government and its bureaucracy. This isn't what the founding fathers laid out in the Constitution or Declaration of Independence. In fact, to get to this point in history where the government overtaxes and over regulates its people, our Congressmen and Representatives have had to ignore the Constitution, which they swore to protect. The only way that you could concentrate power in federal hands is by ignoring the Constitution. My question to all of you is why do you allow this to happen? I would like an answer. I understand that you want to help people, but making the government the first choice to help people above that of private hands or even the hands of those who need the help, you create a process that is not natural and only ensures slavery of its citizens. And that is why it is being done. I love reading history and I’ve been reading some interesting history of this country of others countries in the early 1900s. This time period included a big push by socialists and communists to increase their power throughout the world. What is socialism and communism? Basically, they are societies run by the government. Our resulting big federal government is a direct result of these forces started long ago. I suspect that socialists and communists world-wide are still pushing for our nation to walk into socialism and communism. These forms of government and society are not dead by any means. They are antithetical to our Constitutional form of government which respects the individual its God given rights above all else. I suspect that the reason America is falling into the morass of socialism, communism or whatever else you want to call it (basically government control of everything) is because there are forces, dominions and powers that want to control people, and America is one of the last hold outs with sufficient strength to resist, but I suspect that we are quickly falling prey to the wiles of socialism, communism, and concentrated government power as means to solve all our problems. Let me share a couple interesting facts that I recently learned to prove my point. Did you know that in 1928, the Socialist Party Platform listed 14 economic planks. Notice how we have pretty much adopted all of them over the years. We are no longer a capitalist nation. Isn’t it rather interesting that as the size of power of the federal government grows, the less economic security we seem to have. Why is that? Isn’t it rather interesting that the more power the federal government has, the less secure we seem to be. Why is that?

1. "Nationalization of our natural resources, beginning with the coal mines and water sites, particularly at Boulder Dam and Muscle Shoals."
2. "A publicly owned giant power system under which the federal government shall cooperate with the states and municipalities in the distribution of electrical energy to the people at cost."
3. "National ownership and democratic management of railroads and other means of transportation and communication."4. "An adequate national program for flood control, flood relief, reforestation, irrigation, and reclamation."
5. "Immediate government relief of the unemployed by the extension of all public works and a program of long range planning of public works ... All persons thus employed to be engaged at hours and wages fixed by bona-fide labor unions."
6. "Loans to states and municipalities without interest for the purpose of carrying on public works and the taking of such other measures as will lessen widespread misery."
7. "A system of unemployment insurance."
8. "The nation-wide extension of public employment agencies in cooperation with city federations of labor."
9. "A system of health and accident insurance and of old age pensions as well as unemployment insurance."
10. "Shortening the workday" and "Securing to every worker a rest period of no less than two days in each week."
11. "Enacting of an adequate federal anti-child labor amendment."
12. "Abolition of the brutal exploitation of convicts under the contract system and substitution of a cooperative organization of industries in penitentiaries and workshops for the benefit of convicts and their dependents."
13. "Increase of taxation on high income levels, of corporation taxes and inheritance taxes, the proceeds to be used for old age pensions and other forms of social insurance."
14. "Appropriation by taxation of the annual rental value of all land held for speculation."

How did we get to this point where we have unwittingly become a socialist nation in very act and a capitalist nation in word only. Those who favor communism and socialism, which are basically total government control of your lives, use “a technique that is al old as the human race–a fervid, but false solicitude for the unfortunate, over whom they thus gain mastery, and then enslave them. They suit their approaches to the particular group they seek to deceive.” I read on page 191 in a book called “An Enemy Hath Done This” by the former Secretary of Agriculture under President Eisenhower, Ezra Taft Benson. Doesn’t this technique remind you of what is going on in Washington. Politicians promise legislation to help the unfortunate on a daily basis. What is their motivation? It isn’t to help, but it is to enslave and to gain power of people’s lives, to strip them of their freedoms and rights. They deceive, but they do not deceive all Americans. Some of us see through your cries of “Help the Children. Give them insurance. It’s for the children. Help the elderly.” We see these for what they are. If you truly cared about the less fortunate, you wouldn’t strip them of their dignity and give them something for nothing. You wouldn’t create a huge government agencies of high paid bureaucrats to control them. What is really going here is a slow march to socialism, communism, and totalitarianism. There is no other path that can be taken, unless Americans wake up. How can we avoid this path if they federal government and its Congress and President continue to consolidate the power in the federal government through taxation and regulation. We can’t avoid it, unless the American people rise up and demand change, which is not likely to happen for a while, or unless Congress decides to step back from the precipice realizing that they can do many things, but they shouldn’t do many things as well because they don’t want to live in a totalitarian government controlled world, where individual freedom and liberty were a distant memory.
My appeal to you is to study the early 20th century in America and realize that you are just pawns in a centuries old war between socialism, communism, tyranny, and government control and freedom and liberty. I know you believe the government should be the first line of defense for the defenseless, but eventually this leads to concentrated power, tyranny, and the defenseless become truly vulnerable to usurpers of power. That seems to be the lesson the founding fathers wanted us to learn and the reason they set up our Constitutional government the way they did. I call upon you to honor their great legacies, to walk away from big government spending, to shrink the federal government and give power back to the states, and to protect the Constitution by dutifully following it as the founding fathers followed it diligently. I love to read about American history up until the late 1800s when those in Congress cared deeply about following the Constitution. It wasn’t until later that those who hate our Constitution and government began to erode it by ignoring it and twisting it that we have ended up where we are today. Following the Constitution means we have a government of laws, not of men. A government men means a government of tyranny, because men can be impetuous, laws cannot. Thank you for your time. I hope and pray that one day I can wake up and have my freedom back. I hope that you will work tirelessly to restore that which you have stolen. What you have done and what others like you have done is steal my liberties and freedoms from me. It is not right and as the founding fathers stated in the Declaration of Independence, “...That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundations on such principles and organizing its powers in such forms as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness...But when a long train and abuses and usurpations evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty to throw off such government and to provide new guards to their future security...” The Declaration of Independence powerfully states that I have God-given rights that even the government cannot trample on. The government today is trampling all over these rights. How can I be a free man when most of my income goes to supporting the government and its regulations and checks on my life. The answer is that I cannot be free. I don’t care what the reasons are for your myriad of programs and spending. Most of it is wrong because it tramples upon my rights. It’s that simple. I love my country deeply, but more importantly I love the principles of freedom and responsibility that it was founded on and hate to see these principles be replaces by security and lack of responsibility that accompany philosophies such as socialism and communism.
